The Havin' a Laugh adventure weekend has grown every year and is being fully supported by local activity providers and foodies. It is a testament to all Sligo has to offer in terms of well-being and adventure. The Rennafix Group was established five years ago following the death of a well-loved local adventurer, Paul Rennick. The group have established a new charitable service that is unique nationwide. They provide adventure and wellness vouchers to people in therapy for mental health related reasons. It is proven that getting outdoors, exercising and engaging in healthy social events improves an individual's overall mental health and boosts their resilience.
The Havin’ a Laugh festival was designed to showcase the many adventure and wellness activities available in Sligo and the Northwest of Ireland. It is a not for profit event with all profits that are generated being invested back into the community via the Rennafix service. They have created a platform from which those who have the get-up- and-go can support those struggling to maintain that drive.
On Saturday morning we'll fuel up with a good breakfast before packing up and making our way to the next next leg of our journey, to the top of a 70ft cliff drop! With guidance and support from Carraig Climbing's qualified instructor you will have the most unique start to any Saturday with an adrenaline fueled abseil down sheer rock face. Back on solid ground we pause for a Sweet Beat fuel break fully energising for the days treck ahead.
Places are limited for this unique experience, be sure to book in and be apart of one of the most exclusive packages the northwest of Ireland has to offer.
All adventurers will be congregating on Annaghmore estate on Saturday for an evening of live music outdoors on the Secret Stage. With the line-up yet to be announced excitement is mounting after the spectacular show that was presented last year by Aindrias De Staic and The Latchikos, Slow Place Like Home and Dean Gurrie, adventurers celebrated life under an early Summer full moon into the wee hours.
This off the beaten track adventure starts Friday evening 6pm and will have you back at the Havin' a Laugh site on Saturday 4pm. Under the guidance of NorthWest Adventure Tours instructors you will be brought through Sligos most scenic areas. They will take you on winding lakeshore trails, through unspoiled forests, across breathtaking peaks, abseiling down sheer rock face with Carraig Climbing then mountain-biking cross-country to finish back at the Havin' a Laugh festival site.
The saltwater activities finish around 1pm giving participants enough time for lunch before heading out to the Annaghmore Havin' a Laugh Festival Site for day and evening entertainment.
