The Rennafix team have expressed their gratitiude for these fantastic indoor facilities, the largest skatepark in the northwest, provided by Neville Dunbar at Zero-Gravity skatepark. More often associated with the running of outdoor adventure events, Rennafix expressed a welcome respite from the uncertainty of weather at this time of year. Zero-Gravity also have all the necessary equipment and protective gear availble to rent on site with all employees being highly skilled, experienced skaters and always happy to advise and encourage newcomers at the park.
If you missed out on this event not to worry, Zero Gravity skatepark is in full swing all year round and well worth a visit www.zerogravityskateparksligo.ie. And with little rest for the mischief makers the next Rennafix event is on the horizon, the Havin' a Laugh Adventure Festival is taking place this May. On Friday 4th March, Rennafix held its first and hugely successful
fundraiser of 2016, a 24 hour Skate-a-thon in conjunction with
Zero-Gravity Skatepark in Sligo.
The event began at 9 pm Friday evening. Participants took
to the ramps on skateboards, scooters, roller blades and BMXs
with the aim of having at least one skater on the ramps
over the 24 hour period.
Fundraising was completed by both adults and kids with adults fundraising target set at €100 and
kids set to €50.
A whopping €4000 was raised in total, participants raised funds using sponsor cards and on-line donations and many spectators dropped in to support and donate during the event. The money raised allows Rennafix to fund life-enhancing activities to people in therapy for mental health related reasons. These activities can range from adrenaline inducing to holistic self care or art/craft workshops. In 2015 the number of beneficiaries supported by the Rennafix service increased four-fold. With such an amazing start it is expected that this service will reach even further into the community in 2016.

Our FUNdraising abseil adventure with Carraig Climbingwas held on Friday evening 5th August in Slish Woods. Taking in breathtaking views with some gentle Yoga stretches we abseiled down a 70ft sheer rock face at one of Sligo's most scenic settings. Our resident Gerry-chef sparked up the BBQ as participants landed from above to feast on Sweet Beat Cafe salads and BBQ munchies.
'Each of us felt our adrenaline pumping during the descent, it was hard to tell the difference between shrieks and laughter'
Plenty of hugs were shared amongst our new posse of friends with us all energised for the weekend ahead. Two thumbs up for this casual and accessible Friday FUNdraiser.

Positive Vibes Saltwater Package
This saltwater adventure package started early on Saturday morning at 8am with a heartwarming soul-lifting beach yoga session at Strandhill beach with ActiveYoga. We nestled safely into Shelly Valley under the protection of the ancient sand dunes and saluted the rising sun while inhaling healing ocean breath into our souls. Following Yoga, breakfast was enjoyed at Shells Cafe where heartiest of food was had and the healthiest of friendships were formed.
Join John (John G Coaching) our resident mind calmer to got you vibed up for a Surf Zensation then allowed the qualified instructors of iSurfIreland take you to the waves. You finished with plenty of time to have lunch and then make your way out to the Annaghmore Havin' a Laugh Festival Site for Day and Evening entertainment.
Over 50 people took part in the marathon event, half of the partcipants were u18 making for some good natured mischief and slagging on the ramps. It was not a competition but due to the outstanding performance of three local kids, Adam Copeland, Cian Gilmartin and Aidan O'Keefe, prizes were awarded for endurance! All three stayed on their BMXs for the full 24 hours intermittently using the lounge facilities for cat-naps as required.
Two additional prizes were given to the adults for most enthusiastic and inspiring male and female, Michael Byrne and Amy Conroy. What were the prizes? A little more of what they love, vouchers for Zero-Gravity skatepark of course! A special mention has to go to two girls new to skateboarding, Ruta and Elizabeth, who travelled all the way from Dublin for the event. They of course promptly fell in love with the county of Sligo having spent their Saturday enjoying the sites and amenities of Strandhill. They've already cleared their diary for 20th - 22nd May when Rennafix will be running the annual Havin' a Laugh festival!
