ECO-ADVENTURE

ON SUNDAY 16TH SEPTEMBER, HAVIN' A LAUGH RAN 3 ECO-ADVENTURE EVENTS.

Adventuring to hard to reach stretches of coastline to pick up litter...

At 11am we kayaked from Milk harbor north of Grange out to Dernish Island.

10 volunteers and 2 hours 20 bags of rubbish = 1 clean island.

We arrived back on the mainland at 1.30pm.

At 3pm 10-15 volunteers met at Streedagh Beach and went trail running while picking up litter #plogging, cleaning 13km of coastline.

About 6 actually ran the rest went to nearby smaller beach.

At 3.30pm a team of 7 met at Island view riding stables and went on horseback down trawluath beach and cleared a stretch of hard to reach sand dunes.

The majority of rubbish collected was fishing debris and plastic bottles, lobster pots, ropes, plastic containers, and 20-gallon drums.

The entire event was organised by the Havin' A Laugh charity and donations received amounted to just over €400.

All the activity providers donated their time:

Northwest Adventure Tours (Trailrunning)

Fitness4All (Trailrunning)

Sligo Kayak Tours (kayaking)

Island View Riding stables (Horseriding).

The event was supported by Clean Coasts and Seastainability.

Benbulben Yoga Hike 2018

The Benbulben Yoga-Hike, launched in 2017 in conjunction with the NEAR Health project and by popular demand, has now become an annual Havin' A Laugh fundraiser.

Stress Awareness Day is on November 7th, and what better way to acknowledge that than to gather as a group and take part in a serene stress-busting excursion in the beautiful Sligo countryside! On Sunday, November 4th, we are getting out into nature with a hike up Benbulben mountain followed by a mountaintop yoga session.

  • We will meet at the Riverside Hotel from 10.30am, bus departing at 11am.
  •  Ascend Benbulben at a leisurely pace, enjoying chats and views as we go.
  • Enjoy a mindful Yoga session at the summit to helpfully embrace our location and our achievement in reaching it.
  • Unwind with snacks provided before returning to sea level.

Physical activity has long been associated with reduced stress and anxiety, and our sense of wellbeing can always benefit from getting out into the fresh air and appreciating what nature has to offer.

Join Blaithin and North West Adventure Tours on this day out and finish your weekend on a positive, refreshing note!Feedback after last years event revealed a wonderful combination of leaving people feeling both energised and relaxed:
